National Day Holiday is a golden week for us.We are not just get joy but also knowledge.Some of my classmates are still in the classroom or library clmbing their "study ladder".
In this day,my roommate and I took a trip to LuGu lake.LuGu lake ,a body of water deep in the mountains between Yunnan and Sichuan provinces,is known for its peculiar natural scenery and the unique mysterious culture of Mosuo people(摩梭人).It took six hours to get there from our college because of five mountains that have to be crossed.We passed through some small towns and villages,then arrived at Luoshui village at 3:00 in the afternoon.Here,the sky is clear and blue.We joined the tourists to catch a boat (these traditional boat called pig trough)out on the lake to watch the full glory of the sunset and explore the Liwubi Island .
When the moon raise,the evening campfire started.Mosuo boys and girls danced with a circe around the fire.They hand-in-hand with a joy.We joined in their beautiful dance.
How marvellous time we had!!
The next day,we visited a local family and found out more about this matriarchal system.We entered the ZuMu room(grandma's room).This is a sitting room,where the whole family gather around the fireplace at night to disscuss family events and arrange the next day's work.There is a rule in Mosuo culture.The women with the grandma at the head sit on the right of the fire while the men sit on the left.
When the children reach 13 years old .They have a ChengDing ceremony,girls will have their own bedroom ,what is called "flower room".The boys still live in ZuMu room with their grand family.From our guide,we realized there are no husbands and fathers here,lovers meet at night but live separately with their own mother's family by day.Because the couples don't live together,the uncle of the mother's family play the role of father and help bring the children up.Mosuo people's"visiting marriage"system attracted us to realize.
The home visit over,we felt we had learned a lot about the place and Mosuo people of LuGu lake.We stepped into this mysterious land in National Day and managed close contact with the Mosuo people and their culture.We have a good time there.
